Therapeutic Workshop
Developing New Pain Therapeutics in the Post-Vioxx World
Thursday, October 20
8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.
Telegraph Hill
What lessons have we learned about trial design? What challenges must a company now be prepared to face when going to the FDA with a novel pain product? This panel provided an overview of how safety and risk management issues surrounding analgesics are impacting drug development and commercialization across two of the largest segments of the pain market. In addition, attendees gained insight into the changing landscape of pain management, current prescribing trends and unique growth opportunities arising from these recent events. The discussion also included an in-depth look at new approaches in the development of pain medications including non-systemic delivery methods and new mechanisms of action. This panel was moderated by David Windley of Jefferies & Company, Inc. and joined by an industry thought leader and select representatives of biopharmaceutical companies with new products on the market and/or in late-stage development.
